TWO PERSON BEST BALL

This tournament will be a two-person best ball event played over two days, with both net and gross scores recorded.

Teams: Teams will consist of two players.

Format: Two-Person Best Ball (also known as Four-Ball). Each player plays their own ball throughout the round. For each hole, the lower of the two net scores is recorded as the team's net score for that hole. Similarly, the lower of the two gross scores is recorded as the team's gross score for that hole.

STRUCTURE

  • Two Rounds: The tournament will consist of two rounds of play (18 holes each day).

  • Combined Scores: The team's net scores from both days will be used to determine the overall net team score for the tournament. The team's gross scores from both days, as calculated in Golf Genius, will be used to determine the overall gross team score for the tournament.

  • Champions (Net & Gross): The teams with the lowest overall net score and the lowest overall gross score will be crowned champions and awarded the coveted camo jacket and tournament purse. See the "Purse and Prizes" section for details on additional competition prizes.

HANDICAPS

Handicaps: Players must provide their current, established handicap index and GHIN number during registration for verification. Handicap allowances will be calculated using the course's slope rating and USGA Rules of Handicapping. The tournament committee will determine and announce the applicable handicap allowance percentage (e.g., 90%, 95%) before the event. Players without a GHIN handicap can calculate an estimated handicap using the link below.

*Calcutta*: To be eligible for the Calcutta, both players on a team must be registered with the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) and have an accurate, verifiable handicap. The Calcutta format and rules will be explained separately prior to the tournament.

SCORING

  • Lateral Hazard Rule (Everywhere): Any shot that goes out of bounds will be treated as a lateral hazard. The player will take a one-stroke penalty and may drop a ball within two club-lengths of the point where the original ball last crossed the out-of-bounds line. The dropped ball becomes the ball in play.

  • Gross Score: The actual score a player records on each hole. Each player will record their gross score for each hole and the officials will enter them via the Golf Genius application.

  • Net Score: A player's gross score minus their handicap allowance for that hole. Net scores will be automatically calculated and entered into Golf Genius based on pre-calculated course handicaps.

  • Team Gross Score: The lower of the two team members' gross scores on each hole.

  • Team Net Score: The lower of the two team members' net scores on each hole.
