Two Person Best Ball

A two day, two person best ball event with both net and gross scores recorded.

Teams

Two players per team

Every team is two players. Sign up with your partner.

Format

Best ball, also known as four ball

Each player plays their own ball throughout the round. On each hole, the lower of the two net scores is the team's net score for that hole, and the lower of the two gross scores is the team's gross score.

Structure

Two rounds, 18 holes each day

The team's net scores from both days make up the overall net team score. The team's gross scores from both days, as calculated in Golf Genius, make up the overall gross team score.

Champions

Net and gross

The teams with the lowest overall net score and the lowest overall gross score are crowned champions and awarded the coveted Camo Jacket and the tournament purse. See Purse & Prizes for everything else up for grabs.

Handicaps

Bring your GHIN.

Players provide their current, established handicap index and GHIN number at registration for verification. Handicap allowances are calculated using the course's slope rating and the USGA Rules of Handicapping. The tournament committee announces the allowance percentage (for example 90% or 95%) before the event.

No GHIN handicap? Estimate one with the calculator below.

Calcutta

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Calcutta, both players on a team must be registered with the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) and carry an accurate, verifiable handicap. The Calcutta format and rules are explained separately before the tournament.

Scoring

How the card is kept.

Lateral hazard rule, everywhere

Any shot that goes out of bounds is treated as a lateral hazard. Take a one stroke penalty and drop within two club lengths of where the original ball last crossed the out of bounds line. The dropped ball is in play.

Gross score

The actual score a player records on each hole. Each player records a gross score for every hole and the officials enter them in the Golf Genius app.

Net score

A player's gross score minus their handicap allowance for that hole. Net scores are calculated automatically in Golf Genius from pre calculated course handicaps.

Team scores

Team gross is the lower of the two gross scores on each hole. Team net is the lower of the two net scores on each hole.
